What better way to celebrate the weekend than with a cocktail? This refreshingly floral cocktail is perfect for spring and summer. My parents’ lemon tree has an abundance of fruit and I found a fun way to make the most of it. In the past, I’ve used their crop to make these uber easy lemon bars but with the new addition of a bar section in our home (can’t wait to share more once I actually make time to take some decent photographs!) and in celebration of my birthday week, a festive cocktail seemed most appropriate.
I’ve never been a “Jack and Coke” kind of girl, instead I appreciate a glass of sparkling wine or champagne but my go to order is a good craft cocktail that, when mixed properly, you can’t even taste the alcohol. This drink does that. It’s ideal for warm weather and not cloyingly sweet (ew). And pretty sure its basically healthy with all the added benefits of lemon and grapefruit (not gonna get scurvy here) so that’s another reason why this is something you should definitely be making..if you’re 21+ that is.
1 shot of grapefruit juice (equates to about the juice of half a grapefruit)
3/4 shot of lemon juice (equates to about the juice of half a lemon)
1 shot of elderflower liquor
1 shot of premium quality vodka (or 2 if you’re feeling particularly festive)
garnish with a sprig of rosemary
- Juice citrus fruits (or use store bought 100% juices), pour through mesh strainer into ice filed glass.
- Add elderflower liquor and vodka to glass.
- Stir and garnish with rosemary sprig.
